Mojo Monday Sketch #180

Good Morning & Happy Monday!

Another gloomy day here but we survived those storms that blew thru here last nite. Actually, it stormed here again this morning as a crack of thunder made me sit straight up in bed! I seen many places weren't as lucky as we were as far as the severe weather is concerned. Back home in PA they are getting it today, so be safe where ever you are!

So, since I was up before daylight this morning I waited for the Mojo Monday Sketch to be posted. Below is the layout and my samples....

I decided to go with the Square card today even though I love the round ones! Maybe i'll do a round one later!
I used another old, dusty set from my shelf called Happy Healing. It's probably one of the first sets I bought from Stampin Up....10 years ago! It is set #31 in my quest to see that all my stamps see ink in 2011.

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #180 Card:

Stamps: Happy Healing (set #31)
Ink: Memento Black, Copic Markers
Cardstock: PTI White, Cool Caribbean, October Afternoon DSP
Accessories: Labels 3 and Circle Nestibilities, SU Scallop Trim Border Punch, Rhinestones from Micheal's, Ribbon from my buddy Deb R., Dimensionals, Scor Tape

As dreary, cold & windy as it is here today after temps in the 70's yesterday, i'm thinking of a few more Zzzzzzzz's then getting my day started! We'll see!
Thanks for stopping by & have a marvelous Monday!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 106

Hello & Happy Sunday!

Hope you all had a great day! Today was a warm one here! Got out and took Fluffy for a walk then took a drive. Every now and then the sky just darken up and it looked as if the sky was gonna drop but hasn't so far. Still calling for severe storms tonight which makes me alittle uneasy.

Anyways, between our afternoon drive and watching Jeff Gordon win the race today, I finally made my way to my stamp room to get the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge done. It looks like an easy sketch but for me I struggled a bit. I used another SU set called Easter Blossoms which is set #30 in my quest to see that all my stamps see ink in 2011. I'm gettin there! LOL

Below is the sketch and my samples...

I really love this stamp set & those gorgeous Springtime Vintage DSP!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 106 Card:

Stamps: Easter Blossoms (set #30)
Ink: Rose Red
Cardstock: Rose Red, Kraft or Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Springtime Vintage DSP

Well, I believe that will be all for me tonight!
Gonna get off of here before we get any wicked weather!

Our Creative Corner Challenge

Hello & Happy Saturday!

Was a busy day here! Kelsey had an exam to do at the Library in Webb City then we did our grocery shopping, dog walking and dropped Kelsey off at the movies and we skipped out for a quick dinner and halfway thru our dinner the cell rings....the child is ready to be picked up! LOL So much for a few quiet mins alone!!

Anyways, I have been working all day on my Our Creative Corner Challenge card. I got alittle stressed out because I could not find my distresser tool that SU sold a few years back. The challenge today was the sketch below but also we had to distress or crumble up something. So I took my scissors and distressed my main focal image.
Below is the sketch and my samples..

Still bothers me where that distresser is!
One day when I don't need it is when i'll find it!

I decided to do a St Patty's card since it's coming quickly! I used a stamp from SU called Go Green which was a single stamp they sold last year and it is set #28 in my challenge to see that all my stamps see ink in 2011.

OCCC~Distressed Card

Stamps: Go Green (set #28), Friend stamp from Wonderful Favorites
Ink: Garden Green
Cardstock: Garden Green, PTI White, Shamrock DSP from Hobby Lobby
Accessories: SU Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Word Window Punch, Circle Nestibilities, Shamrock Button, St Patrick's Day Ribbon & Green Rhinestones from Micheal's, Dimensionals, Scor Tape

Hope you like it!
Well, that's all for me for tonight!
Thanks for stopping by & have a good night!

Stylish Blogger Awards

Over the last few months I have been given 2 Stylish Blogger Awards in which i'm so proud & very grateful. With this award I have to share 8 things about me...so here goes!

This first award was sent my way back in January from Wanda Cullen from Cullen-ary Creations
She has a wonderful blog and is just the sweetest person!

1) When I was a little girl I remember my parents taking me to get corective shoes made because my feet went inward when I walked. These were the ugliest shoes i've ever seen! By the time I started high school I no longer had to wear them. Thank God!

2) Vacation when I was little was in Ocean City, MD. I had always dreamed of living there one day!

3) At the age of 17 I had my first daughter, Kirsten. Being a teen parent is one of the hardest jobs ever! I think I grew up with her!

4) I worked at a local grocery store chain in the bakery. I learned how to bake & decorate cakes. Eventually, it became a passion!

5) My son Ryan, was born with Cerebral Palsy and has overcome many health conditions in his 24 years. Hershey Medical Center was our 2nd home for a long time. He was my sunshine of each day and I miss him now since he is still living back in Pennsylvania.

6) I worked at a cast iron foundry for a few years which was hard, sweaty and extremely dirty work. This is where I met Shawn!

7) After dating for a few months we got married July 21, 1990. We were married by the Justice of the Peace then had a reception for family and friends. A day I will always remember, my 2 kids were so cute and funny and we had so many loved ones there that are no longer with us.

8) 2 years after being married we found out we were having a baby! Kelsey was born prematurely and after 10 days she came home with a sleep apnea monitor. Talk about scary!

9) In 2001, my neighbor and best friend Deb invited me to a Stampin Up Workshop and the rest became history! I was hooked immediately and here I am 10 years later! I'm a stamping addict!

My next award was given to me from KnitMachineQueen (KMQ). I don't know her name but know she is a blog follower and leaves the nicest comments!

1) In April 1994 we bought our first house! Such a stressful time but I was so happy the day settlement came!

2) Nov. 1996 I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. I had surgery and remember it was election day and as I was waking up from surgery I seen Bill & Hillary Clinton on the TV celebrating their 2nd term in office.

3) I am a huge Bon Jovi fanatic! I have followed them since they came out in 1983 and have seen them in concert many times!

4) I hate to cook! Don't mind cleaning up or doing the dishes but hate to cook!

5) I use to be a NASCAR freak but not so much anymore. I still watch and root on my favorite driver, Mark Martin. We've been to Richmond a few times to watch them race and that's so awesome to see IRL!

6) Most people know this but after 44 years, I have never had a driver's license..nor do I care too!

7) After living in Wrightsville, Pennsylvania for 44 years, my hubby decided to take a job within the company he works for....sell our home of 16 1/2 years and move my daughter & I to Joplin, Missouri. After 5 months of being away I still get teary eyed when I think of my house and wonderful neighbors back home. It's been very difficult leaving behind everyone and everything that we've ever known but our wish is to be back in PA before Christmas. One can hope, right?

8) My hubby and I belong to a car club called Scikotics. It's a club for Scion owners. We have a 2010 Muraski (purple) XB named Winky! We have met many people thru the love of our car!

9) I love watching basketball and my favorite team is the Boston Celtics. I also enjoy watching softball. Hubby use to play with a team in York and we enjoyed that very much!

10) I love the Grinch and Gingerbreadmen!

So there you have it!
Now I need to pass this award off to 8 Stylish Bloggers..

I'm thrilled that it's finally Friday but it sure is gloomy here again today! We had storms yesterday with heavy rains but nothing severe, Thank God! For all of you in this storm that's heading east, please stay safe!

So, today I checked out the Free 4 All Challenge over at SCS and it was themed "Aloha Friday"! I really do not have anything with palm trees or island flowers but I found in my stash of old stamp sets this retired set from SU called Stipple Shells. (Also set #28 in my own personal challenge) Then I found in my image box this sentiment to go with it. Not sure who the maker of it is....It's Deb K's stamp.

Ink: Marina Mist, Memento Black
Cardstock: PTI White, Marina Mist, Marina Mist Patterns DSP Stack

Ways To Use It Challenge 311

Hello & Happy Thursday!

Technically, here in MO it is after midnight and I had gone to bed just to toss & turn so I got up and looked to see if the Ways To Use It Challenge was posted and sure enough, it was!
The Ways To Use It Challenge 311 was themed: "Grey doesn't need to be gloomy"...and I have to agree! Basic Grey & the retired Going Gray from Stampin Up are both wonderful colors that I love to use but sadly don't use it often enough. Tonight was my shot to use it and I am happy I did! :)

I used Basic Grey with a splash of Regal Rose and i'm lovin the outcome!

Ways To Use It Challenge #311 Card:

Stamps: Glad Friends (set #27)
Ink: Basic Grey
Cardstock: Basic Grey, PTI White, Regal Rose Patterns DSP
Accessories: Fancy Flower Punch, Basic Grey Corduroy Button, Basic Grey Taffeta Ribbon, Stamp A Ma Jig, Scor Tape

I think this is actually the first time I broke out my Fancy Flower Punch and crumbled up the cardstock to make my flower. I punched 3 and added the button to the center to hold them together. The sentiment was a single stamp that SU sold a year or so ago that I blew dust off of to use for my challenge to make sure all my sets see ink this year! Glad Friends is set #27!!

Have I said how much I love this!! I really do!!

Well folks, I really do need my beauty sleep! LOL
Off to bed I must go!
Thanks for stopping by & have a terrific Thursday!!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 105

Hello & Happy Sunday!

Yeah!!! Nascar is back today with the Daytona 500! I'm so excited!
I'll be rooting on my fav. driver Mark Martin, as always!

Anyways, today Shawn & I were up early but he's since already gone back to bed for a few more Zzzzzzz's! I, however, popped into my stamp room and after seeing today's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge......decided to play along!
Below is the sketch and my samples....

I was rooting thru my image box looking for some Easter stuff and came across this flower image from a set called Looks Like Spring that I no longer have. The image was stamped in Cameo Coral which is a color I hardly ever used. I grabbed the image and went in search of some papers that matched. I came across this package of SU paper called "Walk in the Park" that lucky for me had Cameo Coral in it! The rest just fell into place! :)

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 105 Card:

Stamps: Looks Like Spring, Well Scripted
Ink: Cameo Coral, Memento Black
Cardstock: Cameo Coral, Baja Breeze, White, Walk in the Park DSP
Accessories: Circle & Circle Scallop Nestibilities, Pearl Brad, Baja Breeze Seam Binding, Dimensionals, Scor Tape

I'm very happy with my card today! I guess it's the springy colors! LOL

Well, I think I just may go crawl back under the blankets alittle bit with hubby then hit up the race then! Also making a big Sunday dinner today....ham, mashed potatoes & a vegie! Mmmmm sounds good already!

Have a great day & enjoy your Sunday!

Sketch Challenge 320

Hello & Happy Wednesday!

Hope your having a great day so far!
The weather here is kinda dreary but warm and i'm happy about that!
Our snow is just about gone and we are back on track for walking Fluffy at the park again!

Today, i'm in lazy mode...maybe it's just this dreary weather that's making me this way.
I checked the Sketch Challenge over at SCS and decided to give it a shot! LOL
Below is the layout & my samples...

My pictures are as dreary as the weather outside but then again I think Perfect Plum is a hard color to photograph anyways. I pulled out another old, dusty set called Flower Filled. It was one of those sets that I just had to have but hardly ever seen ink. It is set #22 on my list for seeing ink this year! :)

Hello & Happy Tuesday!

Hope your all having a great day! Mine is going great! I just got off the phone from talking to my best friend Deb, from back home! I believe we were chit chatting for well over an hour! LOL So much to catch up on! :)

Anyways, I started my card way before lunch time and was just putting the finishing touches on it when the phone rang. The colors for the Color Challenge today are: Pacific Point, So Saffron & Wild Wasabi. I was alittle unsure of them at first but I think my card brought them all together nicely.

I just got the Tulips Embossing Folder from SU and as I was thinking of a set to use to make an Anniversary card this old SU set called Terrific Tulips came to mind. This is also set # 21 in my own challenge to see that all my sets see ink in 2011.

Valentine's Day 2011

Happy Valentine's Day, friends!

Today i'm sharing with you the treats I made for all my stamp friends, here in MO & back in PA! I love making little treats with Stampin Up's cello bags! I used some older designer paper called Love Notes that cut out with the SU Top Note die. I folded it in half and added the Ovals then my hearts & tag. I made so many of these I didn't know what to do with all of them! LOL

Then this is what I gave hubby for Valentine's. Sorry not a really good pic.

Then the dinner that he made. I don't know why he didn't use my good set of dishes instead of the old Melmac stuff. LOL But dinner sure was GOOD! :)
He made steaks on the grill, steamed some shrimp, lobster tails & scallops.
Kels made the bake potatoes!
For dessert I made some chocolate covered banana's & strawberries! <3

And then there are the beautiful roses he gave me for Valentine's Day! Now you can all laugh because all my vases are still packed away from the move so I used a Graham Packaging cup that seemed pretty sturdy to put my purdy flowers in. They are rainbow colored and oh so pretty!

We shipped Kelsey out for alittle while this evening with Vicki Burdick's niece. Kelsey is crazy over Justin Bieber so they went to see the movie again! LOL Shawn & I are home alone watching the Cake Boss enjoying some quiet time. :)

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!
