Our Creative Corner Challenge

Hello again!

I have been wanting to participate in last week's Our Creative Corner blog challenge and have been putting it off till today! Sarah, The OCC challenge hostess asked us to make a card or project for July 4th or Christmas in July and since I have been working on Christmas craft show stuff and have been giddy on making these door knob hangers....I made yet another one for the Our Creative Corner Challenge.
Take a look...

I covered a wooden door knob hanger with some musical note paper from Hobby Lobby, sanded the edges, added a piece of Riding Hood Red cardstock that I punched with the Martha Stewart Loopy Punch then added some Riding Hood Red Patterns 12 X 12 DSP. I used a Forever Friends Bear image that I colored and cut out with an Oval Nestibilities and then layered that on to a Labels 10 Nestibilities. Added some gold pearls, my sentiment, a big beautiful bow with jingle bells and some Polar White Flower Soft to his santa hat and he was done! I have to say that I squealed with delight when it was finished....I love it!!!

Forever Friends Happy Holidays Door Knob Hanger:

Stamps: Forever Friends Bear, Sentiment from PTI
Ink: Memento Black, Copic Markers
Cardstock: Musical Note DSP from Hobby Lobby, Riding Hood Red, Riding Hood Red Patterns DSP, GP White
Accessories: Oval & Labels 10 Nestibilities, Martha Stewart Loopy Border Punch, Riding Hood Red 1 1/4 Striped Grosgrain, Gold Jingle Bells, Gold Pearls, Mono Multi Liquid Glue, Hot Glue, Dimensionals, Scor Tape

Free 4 All Challenge #72

Good Morning & Happy TGIF!!!

Today's Free 4 All Challenge was themed "Good Ole Summertime"! Dawn thought we should do a card/project with something in mind that we did as a child durning the summer time months. It's funny, Vicki & I were just talking about making a door hanger with something related to summer and I had talked about kids in a pool or something watermelon. Things I can relate to as a child. I remember days of swimming and then having watermelon as a treat in the evenings after a long hot summer day! Soooooo, I found in my stash this Seed Packet template already stamped with a SU watermelon image and the door hanger came to life!
I covered my wooden door hanger with some Garden Green Patterns 12 X 12 DSP and added a piece of Whisper White punched with the Martha Stewart Doily Punch and added red rhinestones and my sentiment. Also threw in there a button and some different red gingham ribbons that were in my stash. The gingham really brings it to life with eating watermelon on the picnic table covered with a red gingham tablecloth! I love the turnout and loved going back to something happy as a child! And now I also have a new door knob hanger to place on my front door! WooHoo!

Free 4 All Challenge 72 Door Knob Hanger:

Stamps: unknown SU watermelon image, Sentiment from Lockhart Stamp Co
Ink: Memento Black, Copic Markers, Garden Green & Real Red SU Markers
Cardstock: Real Red, SU Whisper White, Garden Green Patterns DSP
Accessories: Oval & Oval Scallop Nestibilities, PTI Button, Various Gingham Ribbons, Red Rhinestones, Martha Stewart Doily Punch, Sanding Block, Hot Glue, Dimensionals, Scor Tape

Hope you like! I know I loveeee it!

Well, that's all for me today!
Off to grab a quick nap then got alot going on today!
Happy Friday, friends & thanks for stopping by!

Ways to Use It Challenge 330

Hello & Happy Thursday!

It's a rainy morning here in Joplin but a much needed rain at that! Things are so dry from the last 6 weeks of heat & humidity that the grass is turning brown and leaves are falling from the trees already. At this point i'd be happy with a week's worth of it but that's not gonna happen.

Anyways, today is the Ways to Use It Challenge. Our challenge hostess themed it "Doilies Deluge". After stewing on it a few minutes I knew exactly what I wanted to do! I used a new set called Cherish Friendship, cut it out with my Circle Nestibilities and layered it on top of a square doily that I have had for many years that came from one of the Amish stamp stores back in PA. I added some beautiful sheer ribbon that I got at Hobby Lobby and some Kaiser White Pearls and called it done! Quick, simple and easy! LOL

Ways to Use It Challenge 330 Card:

Stamps: Cherish Friendship (set #83)
Ink: Memento Black, Copic Markers
Cardstock: PTI White (card base), Cherry Cobbler, Neenah White
Accessories:Circle & Circle Scallop Nestibilties, Square Doily, Sheer White Ribbon from Hobby Lobby, Kaiser White Pearls, Dimensionals, Scor Tape

Well, that's all for me today!
I've been busy, busy, busy in my craft room working on more things for the craft show! I'm so excited! I'll share them with you in the weeks ahead!! :)

Thanks for stopping by & have a terrific Thursday!

Sketch Challenge 340

Hello again!
Today is Sketch Challenge day at SCS. The layout & my sample is below.
Take a look...

I made this card for Kelsey whom we just found out graduated high school from the University of Missouri! It's been a rough year for her so I wanted to make sure I got a card made in honor of a big milestone in her life.
She started high school back home at Eastern York High School. Completed 2 1/2 months before we signed her out to move to Joplin. We gave her a choice of either attending Joplin High School for the remainder of the year or do an online high school program. After much consideration she chose the online program at the University of Missouri.
It was tough at times getting things done because now she was teaching herself instead of a teacher doing it but she had alot of help thru her online teachers and completed the credits she needed to finish high school.
While we were back home in PA it was tough for her to see her friends nearing graduation and preparing for what was down the road for them. A tough pill for any parent to have to watch their child not being their for their high school graduation with classmates he or she have known since preschool. It makes me cry to think about it. She had many invites to attend graduation parties of friends but as it turned out we would soon be heading back to MO.
She weathered the storm and got back to MO to finish up what she needed to do to get her diploma and now see what life throws at her. We know she wants to attend Penn State York but hasn't really figured out a major yet. We also thought maybe come the fall she could enroll in spring classes because hopefully by then we would be back living in PA. As of now that dream of hers will be on hold until Shawn finishes what he needs to do here in MO so we can return back home. I'm still hoping that our return is sooner rather than later! In the meantime we are encouraging her to try to pick up a job so that helps with the time passing by. We are very proud of her and her accomplishments. This year has been filled with lots of unknowns and upside downs and she seems to keep pushing ahead, smiling at that!

Way to go, Kelsey! We are so very proud of you & your accomplishments!
The world is yours to conquer!

Sketch Challenge 340 Card:

Stamps: Happy Grad (set #81), Sketch an Event (set #82)
Ink: Brilliant Blue

Accessories: Corner Rounder, Brilliant Blue Grosgrain, Summer Sun Corduroy Button, SU Scallop Trim Border Punch, Scor Tape

Oh I also used the colors of Eastern High School for her card.

Thanks for stopping by again!
Have a great day!

Added a sentiment from the Polar Bears set and the poinsettia Prima flower and that big gorgeous striped ribbon with jingle bells and it was one of those WOW moments! I loved the outcome!

I made a whole box of them and all are different but this one really caught my eye!
Hope you like it!

Our hostess, Wendy, challenged us to make a project with one of the many holidays that are in July. There is a list a mile long and some that made me giggle!

I had a bag of M&M's and an empty Starbucks bottle in my kitchen cupboard and decided to use some awesome EK Success M&M designer paper to go along with the theme of National Junk Food Day! Besides we are junk food junkies most of the time! LOL

Ways To Use It Challenge 329

Good Morning & Happy Thursday!!

Hope your off to a great start today!

I was up again way to early but it gave me a chance to get my project for today finished and it just so happens that it fell within the category or today's Ways To Use It Challenge. It is themed "Something Old, Something New" and at first it made me think wedding until I read what we were to do. We are to use something older than 6 months and something new that you've gotten in the last 6 months. Sure, easy enough!! :)

Last night I sat after supper and started working on a few notebooks for the craft show. I try to make a variety such as Christmas and non holiday ones. I got 2 books covered and left them sit to finish up today because I was just spent after being at my table pretty much all day! This one called my name this morning when I seen the challenge and I was able to finish it up.
I used an old stamp set called Natural Beauty (set #78) and new to me gorgeous Pumpkin Pie 1 1/4 Striped Grosgrain Ribbon that I just got since returning from vacation! Yipppppeeee Skipppy, I love this! (may have to keep this one for myself) LOL

Color Challenge 329

Good Morning & Happy Tuesday!

I'm glad to be back to my usual stamping! This last week i'm sure you noticed i've been MIA. I had a stomach bug most of the week and it's been so ungodly hot & humid here that I just took a break from everything. Besides being sick there were a few things that went on too. Shawn's uncle had passed away unexpectedly and we were on the fence as to whether or not to go home but it was decided by the family that there would not be any services. I'm thinking this may have been one of his wishes, i'm not sure. And also we were looking into purchasing another house back in PA to stay at for when we return for visits at least until Shawn would be able to relocate back but the loan process fell thru due to no determined date of him relocating. This really bummed me out and I know it was out of our hands but the house was just so perfect for us and it gave us some hope as to one day returning back to PA for good. So as they say, one day at a time and we'll get there when the time is right! Yea, it's alittle hard for me to say because i'm still a little upset about it but it's true. Not a whole lot we can do till then.....

So, today is Color Challenge day over at SCS. The colors are: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake (Kraft) and Melon Mambo. A beautiful combination of colors that how could I not play along! I pulled out set #76 called Embrace Life to use as another set in my challenge to see that all my stamp sets see ink in 2011. I'm sure I could have been a lot farther along in my count if I had not been feeling under the weather the last few weeks. I've thrown myself back into stamping the last day or 2 with working on craft show stuff that will be here before ya know it so today's challenge was a nice break away from creating Christmas stuff.

Color Challenge 329 Card:

Stamps: Embrace Life (set #76), unknown inside sentiment
Ink: Memento Black
Cardstock: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake (Kraft), Neenah White, Melon Mambo
Accessories: SU Butterfly Sizzlit, Versamark, White Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, White Lace, Soft Suede Grosgrain, Crumb Cake (Kraft) Taffeta Ribbon, Kaiser White Pearls, Stamp A Ma Jig, Dimensionals, Scor Tape

Well hopefully now I can get life back on track and concentrate a little more on my stamping! Speaking of stamping....have any of you seen the new SU catty?? OMGosh, SU is improving each & every year by leaps & bounds! I love it!! And well, those new in colors are very pretty too!

That's all for me today!
Thanks for stopping by & have a terrific Tuesday, friends!

Ways to Use It Challenge 327

Hello & Happy Thursday, friends!

Up and at it again way too early! Wonder what's going on with me?? I'm one who loves my sleep!
Anyways, I checked out the Ways to Use It Challenge first thing this morning and got right on it even though I kept thinking of crawling back in my bed!
Today the challenge was themed "A Vision in Vellum". Vellum can make a card look very elegant & beautiful but I find it alittle challenging because there are special adhesives you are to use with it to attach it to regular cardstock and oh course, I do not have any! So, I ran my vellum with a piece of PTI White cardstock thru the Cuttlebug with my Sizzix Tim Holtz Snowman Embossing Folder and then attached it to the cardstock with gold brads. Alittle hard to see but it's there!

Not real sure i'm happy with it but it's done....

Ways to Use It Challenge 327 Card:

Stamps: Grateful Greetings
Ink: Marina Mist
Cardstock: Marina Mist, PTI White, SU Vellum
Accessories: Lg & Sm Tag Punches, Gold Brads, Gold Beads, Marina Mist Grosgrain, Dimensionals, Scor Tape

Before I go I wanted to share with you a picture of Fluffy from yesterday when I gave her a bath. She wasn't too happy with me until she was finished and she got a treat! Atleast now she's soft, fluffy & smelling good! :)

Ok, Off to see what kind of trouble I can get into today!
Thanks for stopping by & have a terrific day!

July 4th Holiday

Hello & Happy Monday!

Hope you all had a great day!
I had the chance today to spend some time with my MO buddy, Vicki Burdick! We stamped & shopped and just had a good ole time that was much needed since there has been so much dampened spirits around here with the tornado stuff. Before I get to what we made I ran for my mail before heading out to shop and found this adorable card in my mailbox. It is a card made by a blogging friend that I recently had the pleasure of meeting at L&L Stamps in Ephrata, PA. Mary Anne (from over at Lakeside Stamping), I would just like to personally say "Thank You" for this super sweet card and for your kind words! The image is very special and I keep asking for thoughts & prayers for the people of Joplin because they so desperately need it! Yesterday, we took a ride passed some of the tornado damage. It still just depresses me to see it but you can see things are getting alittle better each day! Alot has been cleaned up but still alot to go. I think today the last shelter closed since everyone has found some sort of temporary living and life is trying to get back to some sort of normalcy. Alot of help & support in this community and so much from around the country! As we were out for a drive Sunday we seen so many out of state license plates....New Hampshire, Delaware, North Carolina & Florida! The continued support has been wonderful!!

Ok, now on to some fun stamping stuff! :)

Last week after we got back from our vacation to PA, I sat down and made this door hanger for July 4th which is almost upon us! Today, Vicki & I made another one and I whipped up this matching postcard to go with. Love, love, love the outcome of both!

July 4th Door Knob Hanger & Postcard:

That's all for me today!

Ways To Use It Challenge 326

Hello & Happy Thursday!

Today was a busy day here! I was up before daylight, showered and started to make a couple batches of strawberry jelly and my partner in crime, Vicki Burdick came to make some too! We had a good time and now I think she's hooked on making jelly! :)

Anyways, after the kitchen was all cleaned up I headed to my stamp room to get my card done for today's Ways To Use It Challenge. We were challenged to use Paper Piercing on our projects. I was also summoned to make a big batch of Baby Shower cards for a friend back home so I had this idea bouncing around in my head. I'll have to check with her to see if she likes it before I go any farther on making more. Hope she likes!

Ways To Use It Challenge 326:

Stamps: Whipper Snapper Duckie in Tub, Unknown Sentiment

Cardstock: Pretty in Pink, Barely Banana, Neenah White
Accessories: Cuttlebug Mesh Dots Embossing Folder, Circle & Lacey Circle Nestibilities, Pretty in Pink Grosgrain, Glue Dots, Mat Pack & Paper Piercer, Stamp A Ma Jig, Scor Tape

So, last night Shawn wanted to take us for a ride over by his work to show us how much of the tornado damage that has been cleaned up and a company that has already started rebuilding. Then we went down 20th st and got an eyeful of the devastation that we had not seen on Sunday. I started to cry and said "I just don't know how anyone survived this tornado by looking at what is left"! Heart breaking and just so sad!! It really rocked my mind and gave me a sleepless night just thinking about what I saw. I guess I am still trying to wrap my mind around this tragedy. Please continue to keep the folks of Joplin in your thoughts & prayers! They so desperately need them!

That's all for today.
Thanks for stopping by & have a great day!
